    Default Shameless plug

JEMS.com lists 13 colleges or universities that offer a bachelor degree in EMS.

    http://www.jems.com/jems/2004resources/bach.html

Here are some that offer programs that are partially offered through distance education:

    Drexel University: EMS
Loma Linda University: Emergency Medical Care (partial distance program)
University of Minnesota: Emergency Health Services (partial distance program)
University of Maryland Baltimore County (distance for masterís program only)
University of Texas Science Center at Austin (completely distance)
George Washington University - EMS Management (completely distance)

The rest are traditional residential degrees, most of them build a four year program around a two-year paramedic program + general education.

I have attached the Program of Study for the GWU EMS Management degree.
It is a 2+2 program, we take 60 to 77 hours from a community college and apply it towards your bachelor.

hey that's pretty cool. So if you already have your EMT-P certification, would you have to do all the paramedic classes in one of those programs? or just the general studies stuff?

Default How GWU evaluates paramedic training

The EMS Management degree programs from University of Maryland and GWU do not require that the student be a paramedic (but you do need to have EMT-Basic.)

    Both provide non-clinical degree tracks.

    GWU: Credits for paramedic:

    1) Certified Paramedic from a non-accredited program in a non-traditional educational setting. 16 semester hours

    2) Certified Paramedic who completed a CoAEMSP accredited program. 28 semester hours There are over 200 CoAEMSP accredited programs - go to http://www.coaemsp.org/accreditatedprograms.htm to see if your program was one.

    3) Individuals who have completed their Paramedic education in a regionally accredited institution of higher education Credit for credit

You need to take 45 semester hours in the EMS Management major, nine semester hours in the Health Science specialty and 12 semester hours in upper division classes. The .pdf file provides details.

    Nick-
Kishwaukee Community College in Malta (just west of DeKalb) offers an associates degree in emergency medicine. If you have your gen ed stuff, and paramedic, viola! instant AD.

I dunno if that's what you were looking for, but it's a lot closer than GWU.
