Default Time to call your Senators & Representatives

I know we are all wrapped up in the coming awards, but now is the time to start lobbying your Senators & Representatives for funding for next years AFG. As it stands now the Senate passed the 2006 Homeland Security Appropriations bill giving $550 million for AFG and $115 for SAFER. The House's version of the bill is $575 million for AFG and $75 million for SAFER. The AFG is getting cut again for the 2nd year in a row. Take the time you were going to call and/or write your congressman about how slow the 2005 funds were coming along and instead write/call about how important these funds are to the basic operation of your fire department. We need to make sure the AFG program stays well funded.
