DETROIT -- Three firefighters were injured while battling a tire fire early Wednesday morning in southwest Detroit.
The fire started at the Arandas Tire Sales and Repair headquarters on Dragoon Street, near Livernois and Vernor, at about 1:15 a.m., according to Local 4. Fire crews said flames were shooting out of the building when they arrived, Local 4 reported.
Firefighters had the blaze under control at about 3:50 a.m., the station learned. Crews prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby businesses and homes, Local 4 reported.
The fire continues to smolder, but fire crews have it under control, according to the station's report.
The three firefighters suffered minor injuries and were expected to recover.
The building was destroyed. The cause of the fire was not known.
