Arrow Alberta teen alive after truck crashes into her bedroom

Alta. teen alive after truck crashes into room
    CTV.ca News Staff

A teenager near Edmonton narrowly escaped serious injury early Thursday morning when a stolen pickup truck crashed into her bedroom.

RCMP say the truck took off when they tried to stop it and, after a short chase, it crashed into the house in Fort Saskatchewan near Edmonton, going most of the way through the home.

Emergency services spokesman James Clark says a teen girl sleeping in a bedroom became trapped underneath the vehicle. Police has to use heavy equipment to pull her out.

Clark says the girl may have been rolled up in a mattress by the impact and that's what saved her.

    No one else was injured.

"It's a very fortunate situation when you look at the damage of the house and how far into the house the truck had gone," he told CFRN News.

Three other people in the home had to be evacuated through a rear window because the truck caused extensive structural damage.

The 42-year-old truck driver was taken for a checkup and will be facing multiple charges, including impaired driving and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The teen was treated for her injuries and released. She and her family will have to stay elsewhere until the house's structural stability can be assessed.

According to the story the police completed the extrication but the picture shows the fire department completing the task???? Could it be that the media was not correct AGAIN

Thankfully the teen was not seriously injured in this incident.

Good catch, LT ... I didn't notice that at the time, mind you it was really earlyyyyyy in da morning! Kinda like NOW God only knows why I'm up so freakin' early today, it IS Saturday after all *sigh* LOL

Of course the FD did it LOL, what a bonehead reporter. It also reinforces my disbelief at the fact that writers, editors & proof-readers of books, newspapers and online articles, etc etc etc DO NOT PROOF-READ their work AT ALL! Not for grammar, spelling or accuracy of what they are reporting. Last night I noticed that the book I'm reading has a number of "typos".

Obviously the same thing has happened here .... Police has to use heavy equipment to pull her out.

Drives me freakin' insane! Sorry, pet peeve of mine.
