DJs
I asked the same question in another thread and BC said that there will be a round of DJs in the beginning of September that will probable be those that didn't make it past computer scoring. There will be another round later on for those who didn't score high even on the peer review. There may be a final round at the very end that is for those who are on the bubble, so to speak. They COULD be funded if enough funds are turned down or turned back in. I believe that is how BC79er explained it. We're in the same boat ... haven't heard a thing.

I've heard from a fairly reliable source that there's be 3 rounds of awards and then the first DJs will go out. That would mean last week, this week, next week and then OH OH.

Guys I would not count on a round be issued on the week of hte Labor Day weekend. Cingreeman will be taking a 4 day holiday and head staffers at DHS wil robabaly follow suit I would think. I maybe wrong but, they always took a Friday off on a three day weekend last year too.

They may take a 4 day weekend, but if they follow their normal schedule, they can do all their calling on Wednesday and still have sufficent time to take a nice long weekend.
They did make awards on the Friday prior to Labor Day last year. So my guess is there will be a round of awards going out next week. Especially if they still hope to have all awards announced by the end of September.

Usually it was the week of the holiday that they didn't award last year, so when the Monday was off they didn't announce that Friday. Kind of odd, I would have gone for taking the Friday before off, but I guess since questions usually go out on Tuesdays, they're not going to rush that part of it. At least the dough is flowing, that's the good part. We've all waited 5 months, what's an extra week?

If i'm learning correctly, even though the announcements are usually "announced" on Fridays, they actual release is sometime in the wee hours of the day (midnight or 1 am eastern). Would i be crazy to assume that the actual work on the release of announcements is done by late Thursday afternoon? That would still leave time for a "Friday announcement" and a four day weekend.
My four day weekend is this week, heading to Milwaukee for 3 days of watching stock/sprint/midget car racing. Yee-ha!!!

Announcements actually go out at 4AM Eastern on Friday. That's what the Help Desk told me.

True, Earl, but considering what these folks go through dang near all year, I think we can cut them a break for 1 week. They're certainly not without anything to do just because there aren't any announcements.
No shortage of paperwork in DC.
My dad's sent me a few pics of his buddy's cars that he's been helping him work on for the dirt track races. Nothing like a direct drive 1350lb car with an 800HP monster strapped on the front to get the adrenaline going.

Probably within the next week. Maybe 2. With all of the things going on down here they're probably a little busy for those. They were supposed to be out late August, but with everything pushed back I haven't heard lately.

Spoke with a Grants Specialist today...2005 grant work has been temporarily put on hold...two reasons: 1. The work load from Katrina. 2. Finish up processing all the 2004 grant recipients ( monies left over from 2004...turned in , no matching funds and what not). "...It may be a couple of weeks..."

Still beats hanging on until February, that's for sure. Thanks for the update, I was going to make the same phone call today. One less for me.

Just kidding! (I just know their plans ALWAYS get waylaid. I had the exact same info you did on end of Aug. but I never go w/ their dates. LOL - always wrong!)
