Who do you think makes the top ten?
I hope that Carl Edwards makes the Chase.

I hope DJ Sadler and Edwards are in there. Sadler and Edwards for sure, Kenseth would be nice too but hes a longshot at best. Hell as long as horse-shoes-up-the-***-Gordon doesn't I'll be happy.

I don't know about DJ. He's my favorite, but the old boy can't catch a break lately--spun by Junior at Watkins Glen & clipped by Ewwiott Sadwew on Sunday. He usually hangs in OK at Bristol, doesn't he? I guess I'll find out because

As long as Stewart or Newman are there the universe will be right and balanced!

Hopefully anyone but Stewart.

I really hope to see Sadler up there...and I'm still bummed that this is Mark Martin's last year.

I hope Martin can stay in the top ten. I'll see him in Dover and I hope its not the last time.

Stewart and Jimmie Johnson are the only ones that are locked in. Tony doesnt even have to start the next 3 races, I think Jimmie needs to just start at Bristol

Bristol!!!!
Bad night for some guys and a good night for several others. Carl Edwards finished 24th and moves up to 8th in points. Go figure.
Gordon is in that all important 10th spot with Kensenth knocking. These last two races are going to be wild.
On the edge of my seat for now.

At least I have to of my Hendrick’s drivers in at the moment. With any luck Jeff will stay but I’m going out on a lime here but think Sadler is going to win it. Anyone else like the way Nextel has set up the Chase. I do

I think the way NASCAR has set the chase up is great, yes,it sucks for those who miss the chase by a few points but I think it makes the season more fun for the fans,I mean COME ON who's not on the edge of their seat as their driver takes the white flag, comes out of turn 4 at Daytona during 1 of the last 10 races to the championship?!?!?!?!
THAT is of course if they aren't already screaming and STANDING on their seat
The Points system I feel is more accurate than it was in thw Winston Cup

I know a lot of rules are for safety but they need to start and finish the season without any major changes. And they need to look at some rules for relativity to racing.I mean, impounding the cars after qualifying so they don't get an advantage before race day by tinkering.Smokey Yunick and Dale Earnhardt must be spinning in their graves.Otherwise we could be looking at penalties issued because the driver wasn't singing the "I Love MIke Helton"song or doing the dance when he climbs out of his car in Victory Lane.
Y'all do NOT want to hear my comments about the iconoclastic attitude towards referring to the old Winston Cup Series as"Nextel Cup"even when talking about races before the changeover. Not unless you have full PPE,charged hoselines and a good water supply to reduce the paint blistering.Last edited by doughesson; 08-29-2005 at 11:58 AM.

Well, Doug, I thought that at first myself, but I was told later that Winston did the same with things that happened prior to their sponsorship. So I guess Nextel isn't doing anything that Winston didn't do. Add to that all this tobacco settlement stuff and there may be some legal reason why they had to stop referring to Winston.
And I am very proud of Dale Jarrett for that Earnhardt-esque move on Newman Saturday. Go DJ!"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”

No douth think alot of racers think they can push the older guys around. DJ just showed them it not a good idea. I think that Kyle Petty and Carl Edwards did a good job of talking things out to.

Here's the Brown version of the story from www.dalejarrett.com:
"Sixteen laps later, while racing with the lap down cars, Jarrett's car broke loose going into turn one and got into Newman.
"The UPS Team lost several laps during the caution period while making repairs and then Jarrett was slapped with a two-lap penalty for what NASCAR considered rough driving.
"'It wasn't our night,' said a dejected Jarrett. 'We had some handling issues early and then we kept getting hit. The handling on the car just wasn't right after Ryan got into me and I couldn't keep the car down in the corners.'""Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”

I musta missed that because I stopped watching the race when Harvick hit the wall.
One of my officers was in the pit road emergency crew last weekend.Says he had a blast and wants to do it again.

You know that tempers will flare at Bristol. Remember a few years back when JR. wrecked Ward Burton. Ward got out of his car took the heat shields off of his shoes and threw them at Jr. the next time he came by.
Carl Edwards said that he was glad that him and Petty talked things out because Kyle is one of the nicest guys in the sport and to have him mad would not be good.

Yes they did fly into JR's car, Ward had great aim that night. I think he made a comment about that JR was lucky he didn't have something to shoot at him.
I wish Ward would get a ride, I've always liked him.
