    Default Jacksonville Tower Ladder Fire

I was wondering if there was more information about the fire on the TL from Jax. I was going to post a comment about the smoke in the EPA thread but decided not to. It's a shane to loose a new unit regardless if it's from accident, fire or otherwise.

    Wink tl fire

What make was the unit? Who performed the work on it? I'd be curious too as to the outcome and cause.

If it was comming back from Sanford, I think the only dealer there is Ten-8 which sells Pierce. Looked at the Jacksonville sight and couldn't find an apparatus page to confirm though.

judging by the pic on firehouse , it appears to be an ALF. the short windows on the cab and the grille. The Pierce dealer could of done the work thou. Our local Pierce dealer will work on anything along as he gets paid.
I'm sure we'll hear soon which brand it was.

You're right, I do believe now that Jacksonville is running ALF. According to the MSA rep, it was a wheel bearing that started the fire and not any of the work that was done at the dealership. Interested in finding out if this is true or not.

It appears the flames are at the rear of rig, no where near the alternator unless it's a rear engine ladder, don't think those exist.

ALF has a shop in Sanford. I belive it is in with the Ambulance company there Aero Products. The apparatus side use to be the old Southern Coach group in Ocala.

Also I belive the artical said it was the generator that was repaired. But let not assume that the repair was the casue. Lets wait and see.

Jax does operate ALF's but their new engines are Pierce. I heard from a friend there that the ALF's where falling apart on them. The pic looked like an ALF to me.

Tower Ladder Co. 34 is/was a '01 ALF Eagle/LTI 105' LT. It is one of 2 (Tower Ladder Co. 44 has the other) that Jacksonville has with their 3rd one (Tower Ladder Co. 09) being a '95 E-One Hurricane 95' LT. Tower Ladder Co. 34 covers/covered the North part of the city, Tower Ladder Co. 44 covers the South part of the city and Tower Ladder Co. 09 covers the Central part of the city. Just some thoughts and corrections welcome.
Stay low and move it in.

    Be safe.
