Hey all, im looking into a career in the Fire Service and there seems to be a decent need for Hazmat Technicians. but where could i get the technician training from? Does anyone know of any academy's? or should i try and get on the hazmat dept with the intention of getting the training then?

Most of the time you will need to be state certified. There should be some local schools that offer these classes (maybe the ones that conduct your firefighting training). If not you can go onto IAFF's website to find out some information.

You could always check with your local BWC (Buearu of Workers Compensation ) They will some times offer HazMat traingin course also I just finished up with my HazMat Tech class . I got mine through the BWC and the class was very indept and well orgainized so its just a thought but check with them and see what they offer
