Default We are about to get whacked with a HUGE storm

Kansas city has one heck of a storm marching torwards it. Reported winds in excess of 80mph making a vline for lawrence. I have heard alot of spotters saying that this is one of the worst they have seen.

FHands15, I was at one time an explorer with OPFD. I live about a mile from opfd#4. The post was last night alittle before 10pm if I remeber right. Who do you know with opfd?

chingon, that storm ripped through pretty good last night. Alot of straight line winds. Watching the radar summary, it turned alittle north when it was passing through ottawa, and when crossing the state line strengthend alittle. It was one huge line, lined up allmost perfectly with the state line.

What dept are you with, chingon?

I remember that storm , I live up north, and all I remember was about 10 good lightening strikes with thunder that shook the entire house. Didn't hear a word one out of my PV radio ( Pleasant Valley that is).

Chingon, I am not with a department yet. I was an explorer for about 6 years. 5 years with a combo explorer post and 2.5 with the opfd post.

I currently have my emt-b and hope to go to hutch in fall of next year to get FFI/II. I actualy have all the training and education from the 6 years, but I am going to go to an accredited school and its going to be great to have alot of knowledge before going. Then EMT-P.

My goal is to hire with either OPFD, CFD#2, KCK, or KCFD once i get my FFI/II and EMT-P. Just put an application in AMR. Which sucks because it is the only place that will hire PT-EMT-B's When I transfer to KU I hope to go voly with a department in douglas county.

I also know a captain that I think is at the kcfd station on washington or indiana.
Also, I just drove by the station on wornall, that is one nice station. When did it get built.

Couple years ago,Memphis got whacked with what NOAA called a straight line wind gust and everyone else called"Hurrican Elvis".
Power was knocked out for a week and lots of trees were taken out. There's still places that you can see what happened.
