Thumbs up Many Rounds to Come!

There will be about 9 more rounds given the pattern that has emerged at this point. First round 2040, second round 654 that leaves about 6000 awards to go. If they stick by what they said and have all of them awarded by October 30th. 600-700 departments per round if my math is correct. Brian, agree?

Total awards will only be 5,400 or so, so they are about halfway through the number of awards and money. It's supposed to last until Oct 30th as the last round, so they will probably end up dropping back to 200-400 per round so that they aren't overwhelmed with too many things going on at once. There are less than 50 grant specialists for the whole program, so don't get too hard on them if they don't get back to you ask quickly as you want them to.

Duh! ( slapping forehead with palm) I guess I should make sure I am looking at the right year for awards. Nice catch on my error Brian. Thanks.

Because last year had more money in it ($750mil vs $650mil), and it doesn't include Fire Prevention awards. Last year they were part of the regular application process and counted as such. This year since they're separate, the 5400 awards doesn't reflect that total. It will be over 6000 easy with those counted. That's about inline with previous years in average award amount.
