Colleges for Associates in Fire Science
Hello Folks! I'm a new one here and am hunting for a decent and affordable college for fire science. Any reccommendations? I know there's only a few that offer the bachelor's degree in this art, but I figured I'd start with an associate's. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ben
Pikes Peak Community College
Try Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado. 2 year degree with prior learning credit option. For all of those with tons of classes and training it seems like a good way to go. I belive all classes are available on line.
Anyone out there have experience with this college/degree program?
I'm considering enrolling, but haven't made the jump yet.
KVCC Fire Science Program
Like SKcfa1523 pointed out about KVCC's Fire Science Program in Kalamazoo Michigan, it is one of the areas more popular institutions to receive your degree in fire science.
A few years ago, they revamped the program to make it more marketable for those who wanted to have a career in the fire service or for those already active to seek out their degree.
The current program is setup so that if you have your Firefighter I & II (State of Michigan) and your EMT Basic then you have 1/2 the total credits for the degree.
Nice to have 32 credits disappear with those two certifications. The fire academy is held at our Firehouse # 2 which is a partnership with Oshtemo Fire Department and KVCC.
I am one of the instructors for the academy and I will say that the students have an excellent program ahead of them.
