i emailed this guy asking him what official channels he went though. If not FEMA (understandable), has he been in communication with someone official from a peticular county or parish, etc. No reply. It sounds like he plans to show up at in New Orleans and offer something that 41,000 national guard troops can't??
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

ctbill25,
I know you want to help. But if you are not going down there as part of an official organized deployment, then why don't you do us all a favor and stay home and do fund raisers or host one of the displaced families. The only thing that you'll accomplish by just showing up is to add to the confusion.
I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!
One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.
