I think Chief Parent of the NO Fire Department is a late entry in the running for having it together. I expect he's been a little too busy to be overly concerned with press conferences so his story is late getting out. The front page article speaks volumes about the members of the NOFD.
A tip o' the helmet for a job well done - or at least begun.

The Salvatoin Army had their stuff together in Gulf Port. I sat in the EOC meeting on August 1st and watched the Salvation Army put to shame FEMA with their responce.
FEMA just sat their with their mouths open while the rep from the salvation army gave them a run down on all the aid they had already set up and how FEMA was giving bad info to the public about the lack of supplies and man power.
