Congratulations to all the winners. We are still waiting, like many others.

Newbie here, but let me get this straight.
If I have been told by Boise City Fire Department (Idaho) that they are waiting for their grant before they start the next academy and take the top 15 or so (thank god that includes me) to fill the openings....according to that link, they got their grant.
So, do I wet my pants in excitement...?

It depends on what grant they're waiting on. This one was for a boatload of equipment. If they applied for the SAFER grant to get the money to do the hiring, then you'll have to wait to do the happy dance.

So explain this to me...
Boise City Fire Department Boise ID Operations and Safety $782,980.00 Equipment ($978,725) 08/19/2005"
Are these 2 seperate grants? One for operations and safety for the 700K, and the other for 900K for equipment?
Can hiring be part of "operations and safety"?
An explanation would buy me some time to keep my sanity, so thanks for your time.

The $978,725 is the total amount to be spent, the $782,980 is the share the Feds are paying. This is only one grant.

Whoohoo, new grants posted today. My current department:
Chubbuck Fire Department Chubbuck ID Operations and Safety $137,513.00 Modify Facilities ($75,000)
Personal Protective Equipment ($69,750).
And to make things better, they have finally started the SAFER stuff: "please Fire God, give Boise Fire $ for at least 9 new hirings".
