That site off until they reorganize, since one of its members has been threaten by his employer to be reduced in rank and benefits. They will rise back.

I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!
One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.

Ahhh so THATs the story.... interesting
Just because it's called a throw bag, doesn't mean you throw the whole bag... you're supposed to hold onto the rope.

Well..........
Well.... Sort of...... Maybe..... TWD as it was known, was started as a "Local" thing in the Mid-Atlantic area, but quickly became a National Forum, with all 50 States having their own pages..... For whatever reason, the Mid Atlantic area stayed real active all through TWD's history, other states came and went as local issues flared up and then died out. In recent years, Controversy surrounded the Nation's Capitol area and in the last several years, the DCFD was (is) a mess, based on the changes demanded by the incumbent Fire Chief. Lot of history there, mostly very critical, and I'm not getting into it because I have friends in the DCFD, and I can't mention names since they would get a lot of grief over it.......
TWD's founders included a number of Active Fire Service folks who felt that the rank and file should have a place to discuss stuff openly and exercise the right of free speech. I was an early and active participant with almost 1,000 posts when I became involved in other stuff and got away from TWD.
As things stand today, TWD is gone. There were two problems, finding a new server, since the one they were using was beyond capacity, and, REPORTEDLY, in a much more ominous situation, a DCFD member who was among the founders was under serious pressure from his bosses to end his affiliation with TWD...... Will TWD return??...... Good question. folks like Dave Statter and Mike Ward who have followed and written about Social media things like "occupation specific" forums have offered the thought that "Forums" like TWD may have outlived their usefulness. A big difference between TWD and other things like Facebook is that one could be Anonymous on TWD........ This, in turn, led to comments being a bit sharper on TWD than they were elsewhere......... Stay tuned, Times (and tastes) Change.......
