John Geils,the village president of Bensenville,Illinois, became outraged when 3 of his firefighters participated in the Illinois fire service relief effort for Hurricane Katrina. He went so far as to order that they remove themselves from the traveling convoy and return to Bensenville as soon as possible. It was necessary for the convoy to stop and have the members remove their gear and return north. He was allegedly worried about their safety,among other issues that he related. Geils has had poor relations with the fire service in his town for some time, much of it related to the combination of the police and fire departments into a public safety officer type department.

Here's to hoping Richie Daley builds a new O'Hare runway right through his office.
