    Default This S)cks

My birthday has been 9/11 since 1962.
It won't be celebrated again. It pales in importance. How does a firefighter celebrate this?

um the same way you celebrate any other birthday, 9-11 was not caused by your birthday. Just take your moment and never forget but celebrate the fact of your living and never take it for granted.

Pss and happy soon to be B DAY!

    Default Happy Birthday!!!!!

    Happy Birthday Lynn!!!!

    Celebrate your birthday!

It doesn't mean that you are minimizing the events of 9/11; but the events of that day also don't mean that you minimize the importance of yourself.

    Default Happy Birthday!

Lynn, I hope you were able to have a nice birthday despite your misgivings.

Celebrating your life with your loved ones doesn't mean you can't still reflect and remember September 11th, 2001 in order to honor your fallen brothers.

You aren't alone, it is also Ray's (E40FDNYL35) birthday. It is always hard, but I still wish him Happy Birthday every year.

    So with that said ....

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LYNN & RAY!

    May you celebrate many more!

I respect firefighters and emergency workers worldwide. Thank you for what you do.

    Happy Birthday Everyone.

And as for the 9/11 thing. It shouldn't change your life, or the way you enjoy any of your holidays. As members of the Fire Service/EMS/PD/Military, etc, we know that honoring those souls is not something we do one day a year. You honor them everyday by remembering, showing up for work, doing your job, and living your life in a manner that demonstrates that the terrorists have not won.

Besides, you wouldn't cancel Christmas if they hit you then, and your B-day is no different. Enjoy it!
Never argue with an Idiot. They drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience!

No one was talking about celebrating 9-11. It is Lynn's birthday and she is having a hard time celebrating it BECAUSE of 9-11. There's no reason why she shouldn't celebrate HER birthday, regardless of the date.

*why don't people read a post thoroughly before responding?????*

As a firefighter - how should you celebrate your birthday if it's 9/11. Hmmm, if it's your 21st or greater birthday and you're off duty, I think the consensus would be 1 or more adult beverages, especially if there is a designated driver.

If it's your 50th or greater birthday, I'd recommend the above, plus filling out your application for AARP.

If it's your 62nd or greather birthday, I'd recommend the above, plus applying for social security.

    etc......

    (tongue firmly planted in cheek...)

I agree,if you don't celebrate your life, then the bastards HAVE won.
If we don't show that they cannot change us why bother resisting?
My birthday has be 7-4 since 1965.I'd celebrate even if it weren't also my country's birthday that I share.
