Went to a crash today, a Kia Sportage vs older full size pick-up. The Kia took it in the driver's front, with the dashboard and door impinging on the driver. The operator of the KIA was about 275 pounds. The airbags deployed, the steering wheel deformed. Then I got a good look at the seatbelt. All the "shock absorber" stitching was torn out, and the "Replace this seatbelt" flag was showing. That got me wondering just what amount of force it takes to blow out that stitching, in foot pounds, or Newtons, or however it is measured. Any ideas?
