Default What's Wrong in These Pictures...

Firehouse.com has allready posted these pics up and since the pictures on the main site were small, I figured I would post em up here. The reason being is that this was a CT department and I don't want to mention what exact department it was, but it is at least a "What the #@?! were you thinking" situation.

Just as some background on this... this was during the daytime, on a highway where I caught a car fire in its early stage. Everyone was out of the car and the fire was going pretty good under the hood so I grabbed my digital camera and took about 50 pictures while I was there. The guys in the green shirts in the pics were workers for the towns DOT and drove the truck but without any bunker gear so I don't know if they were members of the department.

The bunker-geared firefighter showed up in his own car and in the beginning was the only one on the nozzle. Then Joey Flip-flops comes into play. This guy identified himself to me before-hand as an x-airforce firefighter and said he wasn't in any departments anymore. He saw the firefighter struggling with the nozzle and decided to help him out. Just so were clear.. he was not a part of the fire department that was dispatched. Luckily nothing happenend but the potential was definetly there.

Seems like the stupidity of those people is only magnafied 10 billion times by the fact the the car was a heap of junk before they even rolled up on it, maybe before it even caught on fire!

First things first...It's a car fire there is no urgency..I don't quite understand who responded with the FD and who didn't,but at best, the JACKASS with the bunker gear on with no S.C.B.A. should have had the sense to disallow any outside help...Former FF or not. It's sad to see how many guys think they're in the old days of fighting fire wihtout air...It's a WONDERFUL thing...It keeps you safe..New vehicles are so TOXIC,it's unbelievable..I think I know the Dept. this is from too...and I can say is the Chief officers of this Dept. better start watching stuff like this and acting on it or they are going to suffer consequences...Whether it be O.S.H.A. fine....Or a L.O.D.D. from something so stupid....USE YOUR HEADS GUYS...AIR IS FREE...IT LETS YOU GO HOME AT NIGHT..THIS ISN'T A TOUGH GUY COMPETITION..STAY SAFE ALL!!!!!!

From the other side of the pond a small and simple answer...

    NO BA...NO PPE..NO BA..NO PPE..NO BA..NO PPE..NO BA..NO PPE..NO BA..NO PPE

When will people learn of the carcinogenic properties of the fumes from car fires ?
