    Default Need help with math!!!!!!!

I am getting prepared to take my written exam next month for a paid position in VA. I am only worried about the math section of the test as it has never been a strength of mine. Any books you could recommend on the subject as well as math topics that will likely be covered in the test would be greatly appreciated. By the way, this is an I/O Solutions test.

I just took a written for an FD near me, while not an I/O solutions, it was pretty general stuff, simple addition and multiplication. And I'm horrible at math too, I don't think I did too bad.

Amazon.com is full of books with fire-related study guides that are full of several types of math questions you may find on a test. Check your local big-box bookstore also. Good luck.

    Default Math Problems Solved

For math, you only need to know about twelve formulas. Once you have the formulas down, you just plug in the numbers or convert the word math problems into the formula and you can't be fooled. You can find the formulas in the Firefighter Entrance Hand Book available from www.firecareers.com click here for more: http://www.firecareers.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=434

If you visit I/O's web site they have practice exams that you can download. I just took an I/O test a month or so ago, its pretty basic math, but they try to throw you off once in a while. Some of the math questions give you way way more info than what you need! Read them questions carefully, slow down and read what they are actually asking for. There were a couple questions where you need to know a square root. Just brush up on the basics.
