    Default Chain of Command

We are about to re-start a Junior chain of command at my fire department. I just wanted to know how other fire departments conduct their COCs.

Ok, I guess, what I meant was... How does your chain of command work? I know the order & everything, but what assignments do each of the Junior Officers & regular Junior's do? What is each persons job. What are they expected to do. Maybe I should have worded my question a little better, sorry!

Thanks for the replies in advance.

Yes it was. Thanks! We're only having 1 LT though, so I'm still kinda wondering how our advisors plan on working everything out.

    We had:

Adviseors: who did all the training and supervised the explorers.

    Chief explorer:
Handeld the $$$ collection and BSA insurance
    meeting times
    equipment giveing out
solciticing equipment donations--with the nod of the advisors
superviseing the explorers in the absence of advisors---we did alot of out town stuff with another explorer post and the adviseors didnt go
    handled the recruiting/membership
make other executive diecisions with adviseors.

Deputy chief explorer: Same as chief in the event the chief could not attend an event.

Explorer--Basicly just like your rank and file.

The reason we were so chief strong is, the other two post we worked with were very mired in polotics and favoritisim. If something came up, there was no real person who could say yes or no. And since there was a huge attrition rate of kids just wanting something on a college resume.......there was poor attendance.

I was the chief explorer for my post and I always got the other guys opinions and ideas about things before i did them, but the idea was I could say yes or no.
I dont suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

    Thumbs up

Explorer Chief - does every thing from issueing gear to recomending disiplinary actions.

Explorer Capt. - acts as a VP sort of. and he helps the chief with what ever

Explorer LT. - handles training, and leads training. the Capt. and chief help him when ever he needs it, although the training topics are cleared with the chief.

    explorers - explains its self

the best thing to do is keep the advisers out of the daily operations as much as possible. trust me.
