Anyone have a list of MA Civil Service Dept's that run their own EMS. I am currently a FF/EMT-P in a small (approx. 2000 runs/year) town in MA, and I'm looking for more call volume. Also, anyone know the date of the next exam?

Civil service law states that you must live within a 15 mile radius of the community you work in "as the crow flies:. ie, air miles from the city/town line.
Some communities, for example, Boston do require residency.
My community rescinded the residency requirement (we did it in negotiations for our last contract, as housing prices are high here), but the City has the right to reinstate it should callback responses drop to an unacceptable level, but those living outside of the 15 mile radius prior to reinstatement of same would not be penalized."The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."
