    Cool New Recruit

I am currently deployed overseas and have been given the much wanted oppurtunity to become a firfighter once I return home. What can I expect to face as far as physical requirements and written tests in order to meet requirements to be hired and attend the academy? Also, does anyone know any useful websites that could help on improving firefighting knowledge. I've tried many times to buy books and what not, but can't have them sent over here. Thanks!

Apparently someone has hacked my name. I apologize for the rude post.

    Default You can start here!

The "Training" section of Firehouse.com has a lot of good information... reading the Forums can give you some idea of what goes on...

Get yourself in the best aerobic shape you can, and good leg strength and upper body strength. Too bad you can't get books sent to you.

I'm curious... what do you mean that you have been "given the opportunity" to become a FF when you return? From your questions, it sounds like you are just beginning to consider firefighting as a career.
