I hope this turn out allright.

The coverage has been saying that the nose wheels are twisted, and the pilot is currently attempting to burn off fuel before attempting a landing.

They speculate it should try to land in the next few minutes.

    The plane just landed safely.

Nice job by the pilot keeping it straight down the middle of the runway after the wheels flattened.

That was one of the best landings I've seen, even when the wheels all work! Props to that flight crew, they just saved 140 lives.

    Note to the Pilot(s):

You know how you're always wondering when is the best time to go and ask for a raise?

I would say it's Right Now!

I was watching this last night as it was happening....that was a damn impressive landing...I was really expecting the worst (at the very least for the nose gear to snap and to finish the landing with the nose on the ground). Excellent job JetBlue!

My dream and I hope you don't find this too crazy is that I would like the people of this community to feel that if, God forbid, there were a fire, calling the fire department would actually be a wise thing to do. You can't have people, if their houses are burning down, saying, 'Whatever you do, don't call the fire department!' That would be bad."

    Exclamation

    OUTSTANDING!!!

Any time you can walk away from an emergency landing is is called a good landing. Free drinks for the crew!!

Of course some of the media was wrong again on this story. Some were saying that the pilot had dumped fuel over the ocean. The Airbus A320 can not dump fuel, as the plane are not set up to do this. Probably the same talking heads that say Firefighters have oxygen tank masks strapped to their backs!

I heard them say that too, and I didn't think that sounded right. Turns out what they did was just fly out over the ocean for a couple of hours to burn the excess fuel....

They were flying from Calif. to New York.

If the plane had gone all the way to New York and developed this problem would this have been considered a terrosist event thus "under the control of the NYPD"????????? I'm sure they would have played that trump card!!!!!

They were saying on one channel that the passengers were watching themselves on the small tv's on the seat backs of the aircraft, up until about twenty minutes before landing!

I was glued to this for like 2 hours while it was happening. Wow is all I can say. A few things came into play with this situation that have never really happened before.

The news media is covering it live nationwide. The planes have sattillite television to watch this news. So the passengers get to see what we are seeing. It also I'm sure allowed the pilot to see what his nose wheel looked like which was previously impossible.

Now, the news media knows that the passengers on the plane could be watching their broadcast live. This means they have to watch what they say. They always said the worst that could probably happen is the nose gears snaps off and the plane does a nose plant. The plane can take it so it wasn't impending doom. They to refrain from saying that it could also swerve off the runway, flip over, and explode in a ball of fire and show videos of the airliner cartwheeling down the run way in Suix City, Iowa. Doing that would surely cause panic on the plane.

According to passenger interviews I heard, the TV's were turned off about 3 minutes before landing, probably so people would stay in their crash positions rather than sitting up to watch TV.

that was awesome!!!! amazing job by the pilot to land safely, the NY post had a great pic of the landing taking place, and seeing it live on TV was definately an amazing sight
If my basic HazMat training has taught me nothing else, it's that if you see a glowing green monkey running away from something, follow that monkey!
