At approximately 11 PM Friday night, the Vinton and Ward 7 fire depts were alerted to a structure fire. When I arrived, it was a pretty "normal" fire except for the fact that Rita was starting to show her face. We were probably getting trop. storm force winds throughout the fire. We would have had to let it go if it wouldnt have been endangering 3 other structures. Was quickly knocked down and overhauled in about 45 minutes. Can honestly say it was the first and hopefully the last time I ever have to fight a structure during a hurricane.
