Orlando area firefighters

Hello, I graduate from the Fort Myers Fire Academy in a couple of weeks and I am going to move to Orlando. I was wondering if any Orlando area ff's would know the qualifications to get hired? I am also in EMT school and will be done in Dec. and hopefully take the national registry test in Jan. Should I even bother filling out applications without my emt? Thanks in advance for any helpful tips.

Josh- thats good on your graduating the academy. That was one of the FL academies I was looking at but I heard there may be a wait, and hard to get in with the class size and all. And not sure about Orlando's FD's I heard just FF2 certification and then I heard other certs needed.

No hiring in OFD until things are resolved with the "MERGER STUDY" with Orange County Fire Rescue. Orange County is constantly hiring. Osceola also will be filling alot of spots. . As for EMT, yes you will need it as a minimum in Central Florida area. Orlando FD is the way to go though if you are lucky enough to get hired. Good Luck!
