*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

LOS ANGELES, CA:
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INVESTIGATION

On September 22, 2005, at 9:52 AM (PDT) seven companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, one Hazardous Materials Task Force, four Rescue Ambulances, one EMS Battalion Captain, one Battalion Chief Officer Command Team, and other various support staff, all under the direction of Battalion Commander Raymundo Gomez, responded to a reported Hazardous Materials incident at 631 S. Olive Street in the Downtown area. First units on scene reported a seven-story office building with a reported “acid smell from a yellow safety cabinet” on the second floor. Upon arrival of Firefighters, the first and second floor had self-evacuated approximately 100 people. Firefighters secured the location and requested Hazardous Materials units to investigate the possible cause. Occupants above the second floor were sheltered in place by firefighters. Upon investigation by Hazardous Materials Units, it was determined that an occupant had been using acid illegally to process jewelry. Upon being observed by a security guard, the occupant apparently disposed of the acid by dumping it down a sink drain. This illegal dumping caused a small release of acid fumes into the building. The building was re-occupied in one hour and thirty-eight minutes. The incident is currently under investigation by LAFD, LAPD, and the Department of Building and Safety. There were no injuries or damage reported.

We have several groups to choose from and all groups have the option to be turned off. We also use a state of the art FLEX system which allows us to page 240 characters. We also offer 1.7 way and 2 way pagers for guaranteed delivery of your pages.

A feature for those outside our pager service area allows us to page our incidents to your personal alphanumeric pager or to your digital cell phone or any E-mail enabled wireless device.
