I seem to recall prior to this hurricane that the Union Local down in NOLA won a law suit that proved they deserved raises going back as far as 1979! Back pay and all.
Most of the brothers down there are going to need every cent to help rebuild their lives for them and their families.
I wonder if anything is being done to see that the city doesn't claim they can't pay the suit now? Or that the records to prove employment etc. have been destroyed. I certainly hope these guys get what is owed to them.

If the city has to lay off half of its work force, where are they going to get the money to pay off the suit? Sell city hall? Not to bad of an idea, but i don't see it happening and don't see it bringing in enough anyhow to make much of a dent.

In the mid-80's, there was an FOP sanctioned boycott of NO due to the insultingly low wages they were paying the NOPD. No reason to believe it was any different in the NOFD.
