    Question Vehicle Identification

Ok, I have a stupid question. Where can I go to buy the interchangeable unit number/placards for a vehicle? I am not sure what they are called, but they slide down into a slot that is mounted on the truck and can be changed out if the vehicle is out of service, or moves to another location. I have been looking everywhere, but have come up with nothing.

    Thanks

    Smile sign shop

We have our placards made by a sign shop. We have thin steel plates riveted to the sides of the reserve units that will take a magnetic placard.

Go to da local sign shop, city own or private. Take a snap shot of what you are looking for. They can make anything that you want. You got the $$ they got the sign(s)!!

Aluminum will hold up better than steel. It doesn't rust!

    Default Vehicle Placards

I have made these signs for all of are rigs. Get some J-channel from your local glass/mirror shop or hardware store. J-channel is what they usually use on the bottom of your mirror to hold it in place. Comes in all kinds of finishes. While your at the glass shop order some 1/8" plexi glass (your choice of color & deminisions), But don't go any bigger than 1/4" because that's the size of the J-channel. Then get some double sided tape (Body moulding tape for vehicle trim). This will keep you from drilling holes in the body of the truck. Then you can either cut out your own #'s from a roll of tape if your cheap. Or go to a sign shop and have them make up your #'s to place them on the plexi glass. Cut the J-cahnnel to the deminision of your plexi-glass, place the tape on the back of the channel and stick away.
If you wish I can try to send you some pics. Hope this helps you.
