Hi,I just signed up here.I am currently completeing my EMT-P program(10 rides left)and have been volunteering at the local VFD for about 7 months now.I really dont know much about fire fighting, but want to learn.
I recently took the civil service exam.I hope to get on with one of the local departments. There are 2 nearby services that run their own ALS trucks, and I would like to be a medic in a fire department.
So we shall see how it goes from here...........
Everyone keeps telling me of a "obstacle course" type physical exam that you must pass.........dealing with a tower and ringing a bell and stuff. Is that the CPAP(sp?)that I am reading about? No one has mentioned anything about any stair steppers with gear on or anythijng.
I was told that they would hire Paramedics strait on,and you had 1 year to complete Firefighter 1 training(thats word from the 2 local departments )so I dunno.
I'll see whaen I get my Exam results and take it from there.
Results 1 to 2 of 2
