Holloway – four people rescued

Three women and a man were rescued from a fire in a shop and dwellings in Blackstock Road, Holloway, this morning. The four people were assisted down from the second floor via a nine metre ladder. They were suffering from smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital by London Ambulance crews. The staircase from the ground to the first floor was completely gutted and a small part of the first floor was damaged by the fire. The brigade was called at 0323 and the fire was under control by 0558. Firefighters from Holloway fire station attended the scene.

Balham – chemical spill
Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters were called to a chemical incident in Balham Hill, Balham this morning. Ammonia solution had been spilt on to the floor of a shop and fire crews wearing protective chemical suits diluted the liquid and ventilated the premises. The brigade was called at 1114 and the incident was under control by 1444. Firefighters from Tooting, Battersea and West Norwood attended.
