We switch right out the door. Dipsatch has the ability to transmit on both the FG and Primary channel, so off duty personnel responding in can have an idea of whats going on. Also allows the IC to remain on the FG channel. We have a "safety channel" in positions 1 and 16, so if we have a problem we can turn the knob until it doesn't turn anymore and then transmit. All radios scan the "safety channel".

Whats your SOP'S
You must be in a bigger city our have many dept's on your freq. Here all dept. in are county are dispatched on high band (36 stations) over pagers and stations tone systems. No 1 in the county can talk on this freq. Only dispatch. After the tone out vfd's use (vfd) dispatch and paid use (city) dispatch all vfd's have there own private freq. only 4 dept's in our county run ems so the radio is mainly used 4 fire ground. We run on the 800 digital system that is now going statewide. Any time 2 our more dept's are called out they both our all go 2 fireground freq. There really is no use in have 2 our 3 freq. being used at a fire around here. It just dont pan out. Are SOP's here is really stay off the radio. responded, size up and go home. to many dept's have personell that just what 2 talk on the radio, if that happens here.. bye bye radio..

Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.
