California Cops Make Fiery Car Rescue
Story by nbc6.net
In a dramatic rescue caught on videotape, a motorist was rescued from his burning car just before it was engulfed in flames.
The four-vehicle accident occurred at about 2:40 p.m. Sunday.
Two officers traveling north were flagged down by three people near the scene of the accident, said Los Angeles police Officer Kristi Sandoval.
The officers and two bystanders feverishly tried to get 22-year-old Alexis Reinoso out, but his legs were pinned in the two-door Nissan as flames from an engine fire began to lick out of the dashboard.
"We don't have any experience with fire or how to fight fires, but we figured we're pretty big guys, we can do our darndest to try and get him out," said Officer Paul Waymire, a 16-year-veteran on the Los Angeles Police Department.
The officers and bystanders were finally able to pull Reinoso out through the passenger side window and carry him away from the Nissan, which was fully engulfed in flames seconds later.
The rescue was caught on videotape by a freelance photographer.
Reinoso was hospitalized but is expected to fully recover.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. At least he'd be alive to sue you for no c-spine immobilization.

hey I dunno bout you fellers, but im EMT, I leared about the URGENT carry....like car on fire, and you need to get them out. So I say good job LAPD!! If you dont get them out, and they burn, its worse then a C-Spine injury. You got inhalation injuries, burn injuries, and the vic will most likely be dead

Good save I say.
That reminds me of one that happened here in Melbourne a few years back- 2 coppers succesfully applied CPR/EAR to save the life of a bloke, which was also caught on tape, however the head honcho's of the police force decided to discipline them becasue they weren't wearing their uniform hats!!!! Never mind the saveI'm sure osha will fine their asses now for not using the proper PPE's, hell, its all caught on tape...

damn, good job on the save.

I couldn't find the video with that link George.
Sounds like a good job anyway.

luckily for the guy, the cops didnt have any donuts to finish or coffee to drink.
Humor aside, good job to the cops and the bystanders, i saw the footage on the news and what they had to do looked very violent and rough, but it had to be done."There are only two things that i know are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. And im not so sure about the former."
For all the life of me, i cant see a firefighter going to hell. At least not for very long. We would end up putting out all the fires and annoying the devil too much.

Hey, how can you tell if a cops been eating doughnuts? - he'll have that glazed look in his eye!!
Sorry gang, I couldn't resist. I promise to seek counseling.
Seriously, what a great save, I hope they get medals for their heroism.Never trust a smiling dog.
The uniform you're given is free, but it comes with a history. Do the right thing when you're in it.
