Question to fort worth texas firefighters

i just moved to iowa a few months ago. i lived in everman, texas, where station 28 is located. i am diabetic. as far as becoming a fort worth firefighter, can you be diabetic and still be a firefighter? i think that's illegal if they discriminate but still, i've heard of people getting put on light duty because they developed diabetes.

    jakebty,

I don't know exactly how being a diabetic would affect your chances, but the first step would be to call and ask someone in the recruitment office at the fire training center (I'll email you a phone number).

I tried but can't seem to do it

I live in Plano and can assure you there is no academy here...much less one that is free of charge.

i visited the site a while back. let me check again real quick. It is called the NTTA Fire Academy. I was mistaken. It is in Dallas, but that's close to plano to. But this one since the last time i checked was free. This is the site for it: http://www.nttafireacademy.com
like i said i was mistaken.

Hey, we put on one of the best fire academies around here in Aubrey Texas. We have one that starts on Nov 5th of every year. Its sure not free, the cost is 2250.00 and its worth every penny. Lots of hands on training and you better be in pretty good shape coming in. If you are interested just let me know
