FRIDAY 21 OCTOBER

Plaistow – two storey building gutted

Eight fire engines and around forty firefighters were called to a blaze which gutted a two storey disused building on Abbey Street in Plaistow this evening. Crews worked quickly to stop the fire from spreading to an adjoining office block and an aerial platform ladder was used by firefighters to fight the blaze from above. Fire crews remained at the scene throughout the evening to ensure the area was completely safe. The cause of the fire is not yet known and will be investigated. The Brigade was called at 1541 and the fire was under control by 1741. Crews from Plaistow and surrounding fire stations attended the incident.
