No George is refering to Denis Potvin, brother of Jean Potvin, both played defence for the Islanders.

Oh man, now you're starting with the memories. Wasn't Gilles the fag with the beard?

I truthfully don't remember Gilles kicking their asses. Nystrom or Howatt, maybe. (Gary Howatt runs a mini-golf/driving range/par 3 about five minutes from my house).
Potvin sucks.

You have to understand how hated he is in the Garden. The last game I was at, the first chant of "Potvin sucks" came less than one minute into the game.

" Oh man, now you're starting with the memories. Wasn't Gilles the fag with the beard?" I don't think Dave Schultz felt that way.

OK. It's April. Rangers are in first place in the Division. Rangers clinched a play off spot for the first time since 1997. Jagr leads the league in scoring.
I must've entered the Twilight Zone.
Going to the Banknorth Garden for the Bruins/Rangers game on Sat. Leaving the Rangers jersey home.

Hockey is addicting
I come from the era of the Big Bad Bruins with Phil Esposito and Derek Sanderson, and my Blackhawks with Bobby Hull and Keith Magnusson but kind of got away from things since I didn't have a franchise in my area.
This past fall my 7 year old grandson went from learning and drills to having a few games in his program. I turned into a fricking lunatic, going through tons of camera and video batteries. I keep quiet during the games per my daughters orders, but I totally friggin love watching him play and live for each game. And I was even thrilled when his first decent shot on goal was a whiff. Like his dad, he is migrating towards playing goalie, I might try to convince him to stay on the lines or defense. It's just alot of fun.

Banknorth Garden, Boston, MA....
What a great arena! Sight lines are fantastic, creature comforts are many. People were nice. What a good time.
Funny story.
If there were 15,000 people there, there were 5,000 Rangers fans. They were very vocal, including the Potvin sucks thing. Bruins fans sisn't like it,but tolerated it...almost.
OT. Rangers score 50 seconds in. Clean goal. Many cheers, "Let's Go Rangers!". Then.....20 seconds later....YANKEES SUCK! YANKEES SUCK!
Unbelievable.

I caught the 3rd period and (short) overtime. If the rest of the game was as good, you saw a good one.
