Default LE officer trying to become FF

Just wondering if a LE officer would have any better chance of being appointed? I know that different departments would be different, but in general.

Could you get a little more specific in your question. Are you asking if an LEO has a better shot at a job than a regular citizen? Are you talking about transfers? I don't truely get the point of your question.

Yeah, better shot than a regular citizen if all else was basicly equal.

Well that will depend alot on where you are. In my area (new jersey) no. Some places may be able to do a transfer, but not any I know of. The way a lot of places work is test scores, whoever gets the highest usaly gets the jobs, however many places can pick out of the top 3 or 5 and will interview all eligible canidates. With you having a leo background it may give you an edge when it comes to interview time, beings you can show (hopefully) discipline, ability to work with a team and follow orders, etc.. But in general just like any other person that asks you should get in and maintain good health, study and get ready to put everything you have into come test day.
