    Talking Cheffie Sighting............

The Officers and Members of the Glenn Dale VFD were happy to have a vist from the Forums celebrated culinary genius last Saturday. She was accompanied by the new Tour Guide for this area, Malahat27 himself. Although a bit rainy and foggy (we go to great lengths to make visitors feel at home) We did manage to get a few runs in, and she got a ride in the buggy with yours truly. No real jobs, just bent fenders, which was fitting for the weather.

Darn it and I was trying to sneak in real quiet. I actually went to make trip to the NFA and the NFFF memorial since I could not be there for the memorial.

The highlight of my trip was the ride in the buggy with none other than Chief Woods himself. Thank you so much for giving us your afternoon. As the commercial says:

    flight $530

being able to spend time with someone in the fire service that I respect and admire--Priceless.

Thanks Chief. You gave me a wealth of information and I very much enjoyed the afternoon.

Next time, I'll have to stop off and pick up Josh first though.

Sorry Josh, but I believe that Cheffie's next trip is to the Land DownUnder for a visit to catch up with the Southern Hemishere members. Even though she is the guest we'll still let her cook though

    Talking What She Didn't Know................

About a half hour after Cheffie and 27 departed westward to continue the tour, I ran halfway across the county for a Fire in a CSX Locomotive. A broken oil line allowed oil to accumulate on top of the main engine where it was heated to ignition. Neat Fire, don't get those everyday.

We could use some good food out here on the East coast too.

Darn it. I would have loved to watch the Glen Dale FD in action. Maybe next time..

As for moving East, I like my nice moderate California climate thank you. No heat, no humidity, no snow. Besides, my next vacation will probably be down under to Sydney (although New Zealand and South Island are calling my name as well!). I'll come visit the eastern seaboard again, but I am a left coast girl (the only other place I would move to is NZ, but I have not seen Australia yet either!).

You are very welcome Chief. Next time I'll have to arrange to come cook lunch for you and the crew. I did not have the means to bake up anything this time but you can't show up at a firehouse without something for the crew.

and a BIG THANK YOU for the t-shirt and patch.
