We were told that you should have your mortgage statement when you come on the first day of the academy. If you cannot prove residency when asked, you will be told to go home. No second chances.

Residency is required FIRST day of the academy. I moved into the city the day before my academy started.

For those of you who did this already - what was the general apperance of the guys when you went, meaning...what did you guys wear? Suit, Casual? Shirt and tie? What would you suggest?

Is there any physical activty? Or just paper work and people talking? I think i'd prefer to dress a little more on the "nicer" side, beileve it or not, i really want this job!

Nothing physical at all. You can dress anyway you like because, it won't matter. Only tip, do not get a short hair cut because if you do not have enough, they go below. Good luck.

Ha- thanks. I'll probably be one of those guys who moves in the day before the academy starts! No garuntees....so i don't want to move, get a place and find out my paper work was "lost" ya know?

I am dead serious about your hair. We had a guy who shaved his head and was not very hairy and, believe me, they checked everywhere. They told him to go home. He was in tears. They could't get enough hair for a sample. That's not a joke.

I processed with a police department not too long ago that dry shaved a few guys legs and one's pits. If you want the job stay clean!

I believe you! I'm not too worried though, i think i have enough hair on my head...how much are they looking for anyway? I assume it's another form of drug screening, seeing as how narcs will show up in your hair folicles long after they have disipated from yout blood stream

Not alot. My hair is about 2 1/2 inches and that was plenty. Some people get really short cuts or shave thier heads. I'm just saying wait till after the 5th.

Thanks bud - i'm super nervous, just want all this to happen ya know? Waiting is the worst part! But i'm looking forward to it - hope they have a few academies coming up i'm in the 320's

I have been following this post and I am sure if I look hard enough I can find it. But can anyone tell me what academy they are processing people for? The first second or third. Where are they on the list? Thanks. I am in the 1600's and hopefully they get to my number in a year or two.

First class started in feb., I don't know the exact numbers but it seems the rest of us who took and past the PAT will continue processing on April 5Th. It appears #1 to 500 took the PAT, not real positive on the numbers, give or take 10 to 20. I don't think anyone really knows when the second class will start either.

what happened to all the guys that are in the academy right now? i dont think they even come to this site anymore. I hope all goes well for everyone going for the background on the 5th. I might be one of those guys dry shaving there. and at least we will find out who is left out of the original 500 that recieved the cards/letters. make sure all your guys paperwork is in order we dont wanna f up this chance.

For anyone who lives in the city, what do you guys have for city vehicle registration? I have the state but don't have any paperwork for the city. I assume its the paperwork that comes with your city sticker.

I'd guess one of two things:

1) The class instructors check these boards and if they can determine who is posting what out of their class that person could get some unwanted "extra attention".

2) They're too busy.

Probably a bit of both but I'm leaning towards #1. Good luck tomorrow. I think I'm going to forgo driving around and just suck up the $6 parking lot fee.
