someone mentioned to me that chicago basically just hires based off the written exam, and then people are weeded out in the academy, no physical agility or oral interview, seems kinda strange to me but is this the way it is????
I believe that there is a physical agility. Who knows!? The city has been very discrete about the whole process. They just love to make us wonder...
In the past there has been an agility test. However, not everyone who passes the written takes it. When they get to your number and call you, you take a pass fail physical. Latest rumor (I repeat RUMOR) I heard is that they are going to give the same physical they give to the police: mile 1/2 run, bench press % of your weight.....Piece of cake if you are at all serious about the job. In the past they have not had an interview.
Doubt it, it will be more like the CPAT that Arizona, LA, and those places use. Stair machine, hose pull, maul agianst the pressure plate, simulated ceiling pull/push, etc.... Im my opinion of course *hint* *hint* ;)
funny thing about those post cards, i went home
All fire departments today run either the CPAT or a different form of the CPAT. Big city departments generally run a harder form of the CPAT, especially one involving more stairs, due to the extra responsibilities and challenges of the city (high rises, massive apt buildings, etc...). Chicago Fire training officials have been stating to hopefuls to train hard for a form of the CPAT. In terms of the police physical, i dont believe any fire dept would sink to that level, they want firefighters not pot-belly pigs.
I know everyone will laugh for me posting this, but here I go.... Has anyone heard anything results, rumors, etc....
I was just about to do the SAME thing, bump :)
I'm in the same boat, and all I can say is that a watched pot never boils. (I know, easier said than done.) I'm still waiting on any word about the police test from February for Pete's sake!
Has anyone called the HR department and asked when they will be sending scored to the applicants?
Minimum of 10 weeks after the test. Expect to see somthing at the middle to end of July. Just chill.....you won't be starting the acdemy tomorrow.
Any new chat??
Nothing here
I think we are all anxiously awaiting the results. Not to see what we made so much as to see what, if infomation, is given out on the process
I will second that
so I noticed there was a paramedic academy graduated as of last week. anyone have an idea when they will do any paramedic hiring next???
That class was rather large also, and im almost 100% sure they are firefighter/medics (same position we applied for), when i went to the academy they had that class in there and they were doin fire matic training.
If you look at the remarks by the Fire Commissioner, he calls them Chicago Fire Department Fire Paramedics.
Also, in the photo gallery they call it paramedic graduation.
