My investigator called Sat. morning and came out for the home interview around 9:00 pm Sunday night, he talked to me for about 10 min. and then looked around the house and was gone, he said he had two more stops before getting off work. He said he's been working 7:00 am to 10:00pm seven days a week because the CFD wants a class yesterday.

I received a call from "Michelle, an investigator with the Chicago Fire Department". She asked if: 1. I was still interested, and 2. If anything in my application changed. She then said thanks and hung up. Last name "R". Number mid 400's.

they usually only do a home interview for people living in chicago. it's not so much of an interview, as it is them confirming you live at the address. they want to make sure you are not living out of a suitcase, at your aunt's house.

if you currently live outside the city limits...once in the academy, a BI will take you to your NEW chicago address. again, this is to verify you actually live in chicago.

I think your chances are around 99.95%. I hope to get a call Thurs. or Fri.

Hey i have been reading alot of your posts and congrats to the guys that got called up, good job and best of luck. I have a rich family history or CFD memberes my uncle is actually a Captain right now and my grandfather was an Engineer. Iv dreamed about getting on this department forever but im only 20 and missed the last test by a year. Im currently a FF2 and EMT-B working part time on a south sub department. My question is about the next test. Iv read they were going to try and have one every 3 years is that true and if so wouldnt that make it next year(2009)? Thanks guys and best of luck to you all!

Just to confirm what a couple of you guys already stated, they are going to hire by your number no matter what, this is according to Personnel Division. So people who have finished the medical and have high numbers will not get hired before someone in the 100's. I know most of you already knew this but some did not. This is not good news for me since it means I will most likely not be in the next class. My number is in the 300's Good Luck to the rest of you

I am just curious that with your numbers being so low is that only because the last digit in your social matched the number they chose or was there some other method chosen that ranked people? I also want to say goodluck to all of you guys who will be attending an academy soon because it will be a great test, I hope this is all what you want to do and are not taking a spot from someone because everyone wants to be where you guys are. This is a job that once you get into is one of the best jobs and brotherhoods.

If you really do have a family history on the CFD then you would know NOT to believe everyhting that is said until it actually happens. Yeah they might have another entrance exam in 2009 but I would put my retro check up that says they don't until at least 2012.

My advice is go test EVERYWHERE you can this way if Chicago tests in 2012 even if you are lucky enough to be called in the first class that probably wouldn't be until 2014.You could have 5 years on another department and might not wanna leave.
