we are waiting on the investigator to call, don't think ms. hammond needs to be involved in that part of the process.

i also am skeptical of claims that she isn't in; i just imagine she is in a dark room somewhere, rocking back and forth slowly and whispering to herself, "no more phonecalls".

on a side note, i am starting to feel like the last kid to be picked up after soccer practice.

Yep - i know many are waiting on calls from a/their BI. Just posted Ms. Hammond was reported out so people don't waste their time calling her. But for all we know she could be there, but not taking calls. I'm sure she is getting bombarded!!

Heard from my source that all is still a go and the scramble is definitely on down at Clinton!

Anyone hear anything back from medical?

That was sarcasm as I knew everyone being called by week's end was BS, but not sure the relevance of her being out, as she's not the one doing the calling.

For those who haven't been called yet I think it's still realistic to still have hope for the November class.

This coming Tuesday, October 1st. it will have been 5 full weeks since they first started calling people to start background on August 20th.

Lets just say the rumor is true about them finishing up calling by today. In order to have 150 people to fill the November class they would have had to of completed 30 background checks a week. I know there are something like 8 investigators but but that seams like a lot.

If each background check takes an average of 2 weeks to complete per person like Ms. Hammond said to my group back in May that means people have only been passing background for about 3 weeks, and even fewer have had time to complete medical, with even fewer who have had time to get results back and pass. Plus I just divided 150 student by 5 weeks which assumes that all 150 people they called have or will have passed their background and medical which we all know isn't possible.

I know it seems like it has been for ever since they started contacting people for background but it hasn't been that long. We all know how slow the city moves. Day one of processing the commissioner said to our group "We are going to need you guys to be patient with us but we are not going to be patient with you". Every body needs to keep their head up, stay positive, and mentally strong. This stress is nothing compared to what we are going to experience mentally once we finally get on the job.

    Congrats Teddy.

Chigo, reading your post made me think this: wtf did they do from early June when we were last in there until middle August when they started contacting people? 15 weeks have passed since anyone that hasn't been called yet has heard anything.

they background checked all of the women first, regardless of whether they passed the cpat or not. so they were still running backgrounds, just not ours.

    congrats teddy.

Exactly, so if it took them that long to do the 80 for the women its going to take much longer to do the remainder.

Exactly, that's why your post about having hope for the November class made me have even less hope, b/c it made me truly realize again how slow this goes and how no way this happens in the next few weeks unless they already have a class about set.

I can vouch for this - just now (13 months later) i'm getting a full night's sleep.

Well if that is how you took it then i wasn't clear as to my point or you misinterpreted it.

My point was i dont think, based on the pace they are moving at, the pace we have all observed, that they have had enough time to put a class together since they started calling us 5 weeks ago.

I think your right...some comments ms hammond made at the medical scheduling made me think that too.

she made some comments that said its possible they push the start of that Nov class from the 1st to the 16th if they dont have enough people to fill that class.

I think if you have gotten called by your BI your still in good shape for the first class.

What's up guys....thought I would share this bit of information. My roommate just called me and told me that a guy from his house is going down as an instructor, and just received a letter today that he is to report on Oct 21st to begin Instructor orientation and training for a Nov 1st candidate firefighter class. This has to be great news for us!!!

^Just want to add to this. Your guys numbers are off. They have at least 30 women ready to go. Add the 20% crossovers and that's already 60 spots. They need less than 100 from civilians and veterans. Also, no one said the class has to be 150. November is easily doable.
