    Default Minorities? WHAT Minorities?

So why are we still calling the Black/Hispanic/Asian/Other group the minority. The way I see it, it is 51% SUPPOSED MINORITY (Black/Hispanic/Asian/Other) and 49% TRUE MINORITY (White). Does this make sense to anybody?

    That is all.

Well Chicago is a minority-majority city, but they (being minorities) still make-up less than proportional numbers in many city departments. I really wouldn't worry about it too much, Chicago will hire great people of all different backgrounds.

I recieved my notice to report today in an e mail and it said one of the things that needs to be brought with to the exam was the "Applicant Receipt/Confirmation Page received when applying (If available)". I originally printed that off but since then I lost it does anyone know what "if available means"?

Is it nessecerary to bring that?

    Thanks

I had a problem printing mine out when applying. After several calls to H.R. I was informed that it will not be mandatory to have the actual print out, but you will need to know your applicant number. They say to bring the form because it has your number printed on it and they don't want a bunch of guys showing up who don't know where to go.

There are 9,135 questions on the test. You have to correctly answer them all to be considered.

I'll give you a serious reply from previous fire tests I have taken. Probably no more than 200 questions at the most; as far as how many you need to get right, that depends on how everyone else does. For Chicago you better do well to move on to the next level.

Not true. The test is pass fail. That means a candidate with a 71% can get hired before one with a 95%. This is due to a discrimination lawsuit the city lost that claimed a score of 89 was an arbitrary cut-off for well qualified candidates.

How can that be?? Sounds rediculous to me. So whats next after the test, Ive heard a lottery style selection for moving on. Any truth to this? Every test I have ever taken (all here in SW Ohio) have been pretty much all based on score. Ya, there's a PAT, interview, Poly/CVSA ect..., but the high scores are always the ones to be hired. Granted I dont always do great on tests, upper 80's, low 90's, mabye this will help me out!!
So did anyone ever figure out if this is going to be an I/O solutions test? Ive taken it 2 times already this year, hope it is.
Anyone taking the test thurs morn and want to meet up for drinks thurs night?

Does anybody know exactly how the Chicago hiring process works? I heard that if you pass the written your name is put into a lottery to move on. What is the physical agility like? Thanks

Yeah, I've been wondering that too. I've checked CFD's website with no luck. I've also tried to goggle "CFD hiring process" and there is nothing about it. Oh and tjhifi1, check your email.....

we talked to some firemen here the other day (we just live a block away from a station) and they told us that it's gonna be pretty much like a lottery. If you are lucky, you make it
