    Default Class B's or BDU's

Hey, do military firefighters wear a class b uniform or just BDU's? Does everybody wear proximity gear?

    Default Class B or BDU's

When my Air Guard unit pulls shift work our folks wear BDU's (the new LION Appearal) NFPA approved ones. We are also wearing Proximity Gear. My last unit (118th ALS Nashville TN) we were issued both proximity and structural gear. My structural gear sat in the bag for the two years I had it, with the exception of one deployment to McChord AFB. The equipment documents got changed shortly after I left Nashville for my new home (127th WG, Selfridge ANG, MI), and no guard units have structural bunker gear. Hope this helps you out.

Marine crash crew firefighters wear standard military nomex flightsuits under prox gear. They were the only fire resistant clothing available in the supply system at the time we talked them out of wearing cammies-which were poly/cotton. Marines are not issued structural PPE, as we are crash only unless deployed overseas.

Hey, angfireman-I'm at Selfridge too. I'm the chief for the Marine firefighters at the Reserve MWSS.
