South Wales Fire & Rescue Service reminds the public when frying chips to follow this safety code: Dry the food before putting it into hot oil. Never fill the pan more than one-third full of oil. Never allow the oil to smoke - if it does, turn the heat off immediately and leave to cool. Use a thermostatically controlled electric deep-fat fryer. It cannot overheat.

Two employees of Harman Becker were also taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

Fire crews attended an incident involving the deaths of Patrick Chidgey, 71, Hazel Gloria Chidgey, 68 and their great-grandson McCauley Levi Thomas, aged 5. Although fire crews detected carbon monoxide at the property, the cause of death has not yet been determined. Firefighters were at the scene to ventilate the property, to allow Police Investigators to enter safely. Police investigations are ongoing.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used water from two ground monitors to extinguish a fire involving a former disused youth club, which was well alight on arrival. The fire involved a number of LPG cylinders.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish a chip pan fire in the kitchen of a two-storey mid-terrace house. Crews also used a thermal imaging camera.

13:16 27th October Off Coronation Terrace, Porth, Rhondda

Fire crews assisted paramedics in rescuing a young man, approximately 16 years old, who had fallen around 30ft down a quarry. An RAF Air Sea Rescue Helicopter airlifted the casualty to hospital, who was suffering from suspected spinal injuries.

Collingdale – house fire

Fire crews were called to a fire in a house on Broadhead Strand in Collingdale last night. The fire severely damaged the ground floor and there was heavy smoke logging throughout the property. A woman was treated by London Ambulance crews at the scene suffering from smoke inhalation. The Brigade was called at 2204 and the fire was under control by 2234. Firefighters from Mill Hill, Hendon, Finchley and Paddington fire station attended the incident. The fire is under investigation.

Gidea Park – shop fire
Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters were called to a blaze in a shop on Balgores Lane, Gidea Park in the early hours of this morning. The fire completely gutted the shop on the ground floor and damaged part of the flat above. The Brigade was called at 0342 and the fire was under control by 0451. Fire crews from Romford and Hornchurch fire stations attended. The cause of the fire is still unknown and is under investigation.

Bromley – ten people evacuated
Firefighters attended a fire in a ground floor flat on Highland Road, Bromley this morning. The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty electrical appliance in the kitchen and damaged part of the three roomed flat. There was heavy smoke logging and ten residents were led to safety by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus. The Brigade was called at 1055. Firefighters from Beckenham and Downham fire stations attended.

Coulsdon – house fire
Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters attended a blaze at a house on Rutherwick Rise in Coulsdon yesterday afternoon. The fire is thought to have started in a bedroom and has completely gutted the top floor. A woman and two children escaped before the Brigade arrived. The woman was treated by London Ambulance crews suffering from smoke inhalation. There was no smoke alarm in the property. The London Fire Brigade carries out home fire safety checks and will fit a free smoke alarm where needed. To make an appointment or for more information call freephone 0800 0 24 48 24. The Brigade was called at 1248 and the fire was under control by 1337. Fire crews from Croydon, Wallington and Mitcham fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Dispatched yesterday at 14:30 hours while units were at the training field practicing fire attacks. Report of handicapped person inside; three searches turned up no occupants. One cat rescued and given oxygen by Pearland EMS; another cat died.

Off of 45 on swamp road, throwing beer bottles and other stuff out of vehicle. Front tire flat but still running about 40 mph down from 80mph on the highway.

Still chasing this car, at about 40 mph off on Swamp Road and "D". Crossed over into Shawano County. Not stopping for any stop signs, and no other traffic, so hasn't had an accident yet.

1906 - Newport - NH - Sugar River Bridge at Riverside Farm - Horse drawn wagon with heavy load of sand broke through middle of bridge tumbling 2 horse, wagon and driver in river - Driver escaped drowning
