City firefighters were kept busy today at two seperate structure fires.

7:30 a.m.
Units responding: Engines 10,2 Ladder 2 Rescue 11, D.C. 45 (shift commander) F.M. 53 (city fire marshall)

The fire was reported in a single family structure, occupants reported out. Engine 10 went on scene with smoke showing. Fire was found in the basement and extinguished. No injuries and two cats were rescued. Units on scene for one and a half hours.

3:00 p.m.
Units responding: Engines 1,2,4 Tower 1, Rescue 11, D.C. 45 (shift commander) F.M. 53 (city fire marshall) Safety 55 Cabell County E.M.S.

The fire was reported at the intersection of 8th ave and 4th streets with people trapped. Engine 1 went on scene with a three story duplex with heavy fire on first floor and front porch. Three attack lines were pulled and primary searches began immediately as the occupants were unaccounted for. Fire knocked down quickly and contained to front porch and first floor, all searches proved negative for humans however two dogs and one cat were rescued. One firefighter injury minor burn to the neck. Units on scene approximately two hours.
