Could you go with Pierce and use another dealer? The dealer can make a big difference.

We have had nothing but good experience with Pierce. It's not that we don't have issues here and there, but we have a great dealer. Having to deal with a poor dealer could be a huge problem (just look at FDNY's problems with their seagrave service center). I'm no expert, but my advice would be to talk to dept's that have SVI's in your area and see how their dealer experience has been and how the quality of their trucks are. Good luck finding the answers.

Why do I ask location?....my experience that a good dealer is almost as important as a good builder and some of these guys are stronger in different parts of the country.

Pierce or SVI
HVCAPT906HAZMAT
I'd look at SVI againest a Pierce anytime. SVI has been building a wide variety of Heavy Rescues, Hazmats, Air & Light and Command Vehicles for a lot longer than Pierce has...Like about 20 years longer!!!
Depending on where you are again the dealer is a consideration and SVI don't have coverage in every state BUT that being said they certainly take care of their customers and are a great family owned company to deal with.
Just check out their website www.svitrucks.com and look at the variety of Heavy Rescues on the floor right now and there are 2 new Heavy Rescue for Honolulu just finished and HFD has been buying Pierce but bought SVI when it came to Heavy Rescues and also bought a Mobile Command a couple of years ago.
SVI also has built a number of apparatus for Clark County NV (Las Vegas), Fort Worth and Dallas TX, Camden NJ, Detroit Mi. St. Louis MO etc.
If any questions send me an email and I'd be pleased to help you out.
