i bought my 1st pair about 10 yrs ago.. Best way to describe it when asked. climb 10 flights of stairs in rubber boots, then climb 10 flights in sneakers, construction boots. anything that fits your feet better.
Yes, i miss 3/4 boots when i have to into knee deep water, but keep your rubber spare in ur locker. i have a spare pair of leathers so im happy both ways.... Bottom line, if ya gotta buy your own boots, buy LEATHER.. over time polish them once a month or so. improves the repellency of the water (imo) and makes them last longer..but on a firegound, you're gonna tire out quicker in those Herman Munster rubber boots.
And to paraphrase, if God had wanted rubber boots, he woulda made rubber cows!!!! lolol
Stay safe, especially this time of year
