*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

UNITED KINGDOM
LONDON, ENGLAND

SATURDAY 12 NOVEMBER

Barking - major fire

Fifteen fire engines and around 80 firefighters were called to a blaze in Kingsbridge Road, Barking at 0105 on Saturday morning. The fire, in a stack of tyres half the size of a football pitch, developed rapidly to affect some adjacent buildings. Fire crews worked hard to stop the fire spreading to another tyre warehouse and a cash and carry store. Around 50 houses were evacuated and some residents were taken to a nearby community centre. There were no reports of casualties. Deep-seated pockets of fire remained throughout the day and the Brigade is likely to be at the scene for some time to ensure the area is safe. There was heavy smoke in the area and the Brigade asked nearby residents to keep windows and doors closed.

Kingston maisonette blaze
Around twenty firefighters were called to a blaze at a maisonette on Eureka Road in Kingston last night. The fire completely gutted the property. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The Brigade was called at 1930 and the fire was under control by 2015. Crew from Kingston and Wimbledon.
