Recent Marlborough Fires..
The contents of one apartment unit was heavily damaged and another suffered water damage as a result of a fire at the Countryside Village Apartment complex on Saturday, November 12th, 2005
The complex is class 1 non combustible construction with standpipe risers in each building.
Fire Alarm recieved the call at 08:17 hours. Two Engine companies, a Ladder company, the Rescue company and Car 2 responded to the fire, which was on the 5th floor of the building.
Engine company personnel connected high rise packs to the standpipe system and extinguished the blaze.
On November 14th, a two alarm fire ripped through the former Rich's Food Products building on Simarano Drive. The first 911 call came from a worker at Synopsis, a computer software company located just up the street from Rich's. Fire alarm recieved multiple 911 calls reporting heavy black smoke and fire. The building, presently undergoing renovations for subdivision was evacuated. When ironworkers doing some cutting work inside said that there were a few steel support beams that were unstable, all companies were evacuated from the structure and defensive operations began.
The fire began during cutting and welding operations, and an attempt to extinguish the fire using extinguishers was made by the workers, to no avail. Fire operations were hampered by poor water flow from the yard hydrants.
The towns of Southborough and Northborough provided mutual aid to the fire and to cover. Three Engines, two Ladders and the Rescue along with Car 1 and Car 2 responded to the blaze
This was the second fire at the former Rich's Food products building. A four alarm fire happened there six months ago.
